This speedy car — its V-10 engine can get you up to 60 mph in about three seconds — costs an average of $4,048 a year to insure, according to Insure.com’s annual insurance survey released Wednesday. Thanks in part to the fact that it tends to attract drivers who will likely go fast, it’s the most expensive car to insure of the 2,300 models (all from 2016) examined by the insurance site.
Indeed, this car costs more than three times what it costs to insure the family-friendly Honda Odyssey LX ($1,113), as “you don’t normally get left in the dust by a minivan,” says Penny Gusner, Insure.com’s consumer analyst. Other reasons cars are expensive to insure include that they are popular with thieves, unsafe, or expensive to repair.
